What you'll need:
A properly-fitted fiddle/violin with bow and case
Shoulder bar (not a shoulder pad)

Pen and pencil
A great big open mind
What to expect:
I always start out your lessons with "how are you" and "what are we going to work on today?" From there I will assess techniques, skills, and the learning and memorization of songs. I always encourage people to bring songs that they want to learn, but keep in mind that some songs require the mastery of other songs and techniques before they become feasible. Regardless, we can always work something up! Some people will pick up on the fiddle quicker than others, but after years of experience, I know for a fact that you only get out of it what you put into it. If you want to win a contest, you will need to focus on practicing contest techniques extensively. If you want to play for enjoyment, you will need to take a light-hearted approach and keep it fun for yourself.
